Weekly Scene 8/13/12

Summer is almost over for those of us in school. It's time to pack up your things and move into your new home for the year and say good bye to family and friends. It's a depressing time and an exciting time, especially since 'Shark Week' just started. Summer has had some big shows for us around Colorado and it doesn't seem like that's going away as summer ends. This week, as every week, brings a whole mess of concerts. Scope the list below and plan your way to let summer go with a bang!

First up in this weeks featured concerts is W&W. We've been looking forward to this one ever since Beta announced the duo. The relatively young duo have found their way on top with their hit "Invasion" which became the A State Of Trance 550 Anthem song. They're on Armada records, started by the legend Armin Van Buuren and playing some giant stages around the world. Coming from big festivals to the smaller Beta Nightclub may be different for them, but I'm sure they're going to rock the house! Tickets are still just $10 for the show on Thursday. Unite the Trance Family, it's time to dance!

Next up is one of the most anticipated shows coming to Red Rocks this year, Pretty Lights. This concert sold out in minutes, like last year and the year before. Derek Vincent Smith has blown up on the EDM scene and is now world renowned but still hasn't forgot where he came from, good ol' Colorado! His production is always top notch and his songs are unparalleled. I started to get turned off by his sets the last couple of times I've seen him. He plays the same songs each time and started to get a little sloppy in his mixing. After seeing him at EDC Vegas my faith is restored. He's changed a lot over the years from drummer to drummer to just being a solo act and from stage set up to stage set up. From what I've read this is going to be another change point for Pretty Lights. With new production and some new songs this has the potential to be an amazing show! Like I said, the 2 night run is sold out... or so ticketmaster says. My favorite new site is becoming stubhub.com, that place has tickets to anything and everything, sold out or not. click on the button to take you to some last minute tickets. Ya they're REALLY expensive but if this is a show you have to go to, it could be worth it.
