Three Colorado Venues Make Rolling Stone's "Venues That Rock" List

Rolling Stone recently came out with the first article for a four part series on great music venues around the country. They've pulled together artists, managers, agents, promoters, and other people who work heavily in the music industry and polled them on the "most rocking small rooms in America". People on this list include Thomas Mars (of Pheonix), Mike McCready (of Pearl Jam), Miranda Lambert, Bassnectar, Denis Arfa (agent for Billy Joel, Metallica, and Rod Stewart), and Andrew Cook (Deadmau5's manager), as well as 17 other individuals who really know music venues.

Colorado was lucky enough to have three of our many venues make this list! The Belly Up (16) in Aspen, The Bluebird Theater (14) in Denver, and The Fox Theatre (4) in Boulder bring in some of the largest acts in the country and are very well known by us locals. It's great to see that the big acts we love so much, love coming to our state to play at these little venues for us as well! Congratulations to all those involved in those venues and keep on with the good work!

Rolling Stone's other articles are going to be released over the course of the next 5 months that focus on 'Theaters', 'Amphitheaters' (which Red Rocks is the cover photo for), 'Dance Clubs', and  'Arena/Stadiums'. You can read up on those as they come out by following the articles on their website here: Rolling Stone's 'Venues That Rock'

Big Gigantic Announces ROWDYTOWN II

]

Who's ready for round 2?!

Today, Big Gigantic announced the return of Rowdytown at Red Rocks Amphitheatre this September. If you've ever seen Big G you know how energetic their shows get. With the lighting, raging beats, and their love for Colorado, Rowdytown was set to be one hell of a show; And it was! Last year this show sold out and brought one of the coolest things to happen to the rocks, the image mapping. Using projectors, the crew at Ghost Pixel Visuals mapped out the rocks and through out Big G's set had some of crazy visuals playing. Unfortunately it wasn't that bright so their stage lights began to drown out the rocks, but hey it's another year and another try! This year Big G returns with what they say is going to be a "bigger light rig, projection mapping round 2, and much more". Last years show was over the top, we can't imagine what more they could bring to Red Rocks!

So far they've got the dubstep duo Adventure Club lined up on the bill with other support being announced over the next few weeks. Fanclub and VIP tickets are on sale this Friday, April 5th at 10am MST, while public on sale tickets is going on NEXT Saturday, April 13th, also at 10am MST. Be sure to grab tickets early if you want the cheapest prices. Also be on the look out for some of the things Big G did leading up to Rowdytown last year like selling tickets (with no fees) in person on The Hill in Boulder and shooting their Road To Rowdytown video with anyone who wanted to show up. Time to get ROWDY!

Bus To Show x Rage Colorado

We've teamed up with Bus To Show to help get you to and from shows safer! If you haven't heard of them, Bus To Show is a nonprofit party bus and shuttle company that provides a safe way to get to and from some of the biggest concerts in the country. We all know people who have driven way too messed up after a show and the people at Bus To Show are aiming to reduce that number. BTS works with a number of causes to help not only the ragers going to the shows, but also the artists and the community. They started in 2007 out of Boulder, CO and have since expanded their project to to Kansas, Texas, and Florida and even provide service to some out of state festivals. Within Colorado they pick up in 4 major cities; Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, and Ft Collins.

For a trial membership fee of $15-30 you can get a round-trip ride to shows around Colorado and you get to party as much as you want with no worry of who has to be D.D. Whats unique about this service is they usually have live music going down on the way to the show! They've had members of Fresh2Death, SAVOY, Two Fresh, Paper Diamond, Whomp Truck Crew, Signal Path and many more artists perform on their buses to get the party started.

We fully support safe and eco-friendly ways to get to shows which is why were happy to announce this partnership. Now you can easily find a show, get a group of friends, and book a bus by following the links on our site. Ragers looking out for ragers, just one of the MANY reasons why Colorado's music scene is unbeatable!

Global Dance Festival Announces First Round of 2013 Lineup

Global Dance Festival has really evolved since its debut as 'Rave on the Rocks' in 1999 not only in the size of the festival, but also the acts that come through. From just one day, to two days, to three days now Global always stepped up their game each year. In 2011 they began experimenting with the different genres by adding artists like Empire of the Sun and Kid Cudi as well as big dubstep names like Nero and Skrillex, all while still keeping the EDM side of things with Avicii and Gareth Emery. This year they're experimenting with different genres while bringing something new to GDF, a night full of experimental, psychedelic, and glitchy sounds to start off the festival. Without further ado, something we've all been waiting for since last summer, the first phase of this years Global Dance Festival Line up:

 Friday: Beats Antique, Eoto, Emancipator, Ott, Zoogma
Saturday: Savoy, Sander Van Doorn, Arty, Emma Hewitt, Ecotek
Sunday: Mimosa, Gramatik, Griz, Seven Lions, Kill Paris

If one night suites your fancy better, you can grab single day tickets again this year or if you just can't decide go for the 3 day pass. Early bird tickets go on sale TOMORROW, March 22nd, at noon.
