Boombox is a band you may, or may not have heard of. They usually slip under most peoples radars because they don't play a whole lot in Colorado and usually don't headline shows. If you have heard of them, you can attest that they can be one of the best unknown shows out there. The duo, comprised of Russ Randolph and Zion Godchaux. Besides their groovin' good tunes, they're pretty well known for Godchauxs connection with the Grateful Dead. Both of his parents use to play with the band back in the 1970's. These guys are some amazing artists too. They both produce, write songs, dj, and can play multiple instruments. Have I said enough to make you want to go yet?? Well if not, one thing that is very unique to Boombox is they stick with the traditional Rock and Roll style of never putting together a set list prior to the show. Based on the venue, atmosphere, and crowd they choose songs during the show to create a one-of-a-kind setlist. Randolph says, "We just want to go out with no game plan. That was it's fresh for us, and we can follow the energy of the crowd. We're down to get down, and we hope that people are down with us". Are you guys down to get down? Check out the video of their last time in Boulder at the Fox Theatre for a SOLD OUT show rocking their Shakedown Street Cover and buy those tickets!
