Weekly Scene (9/24-9/30)

This week features a whole array of events from concerts, to movie premiers, to even gymnastics. With the seasons changing and the weather getting colder, there's also a couple venues getting ready to close. The Comfort Dental Amphitheatre doesn't have any events on the schedule anymore and Red Rocks Amphitheatre is on its last week of shows. Try and pack the shows in now so that when the snow starts to drop you don't have to trek through it to rage (even though most of you probably will anyways). Check out this list and plan accordingly!

One of the big shows to come through this week is the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Pepsi Center. After  getting postponed to allow frontman Anthony Kiedes's foot to heal up after surgery, this sold out show is finally here again. Originally scheduled for March 4 this has probably become one of the most anticipated shows of the summer. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have gone through a lot in their career and have made their way up to a legendary status in the world of rock. In April the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame only solidifying their status as legends in their realm. They may not always be conventional but with a blend of funk, rock, and punk music they're something that every one can get down to. Good job to those who got tickets, you've made a large amount of Denver jealous.

To keep up with big bands that have turned heads in their genre, Dispatch is also making their way to Colorado this week. They're playing at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield and bringing Good Old War along with them. After breaking up for a little bit, the band finally got back together and sold out Red Rocks their first time back. This show was originally scheduled as 2 nights but they were combined into just one night, this Saturday. Since their hiatus the band has really moved forward and set their first European Tour dates and just released a new album, "Circles Around the Sun". They aren't a conventional band who just play their music on stage and leave. They engage and talk with the crowd as if it's a band practice in their studio and even come out into the crowd and play as they're moving around. With inspiring lyrics and very talents musicians Dispatch is going to be another great concert for people of all ages.

As I said, Red Rocks is on its last week of concerts. With some big shows this week, it seems like people are getting really hyped on Colorado locals, Big Gigantic, first headlining show. Like we've said before, it's awesome seeing bands getting really excited for a show, it makes that show that much more anticipated. Big G has done nothing short of making this sound like one of the greatest shows to hit Red Rocks this summer. From filming a trailer for the show to handing out tickets in person to even doing something never seen at the venue, Big G is going all out for this concert. They announced a couple weeks ago that they would be the first band to projector map onto the rocks! They've really blown up this year all around the country with their new form of electronic music. I've heard the rumor that this show is sold out, but haven't seen anything confirming that yet. Lets get ROWDY!
