The Weekly Scene is back helping you plan out the week! This round there are a lot more bands than DJ's but we've still got some big shows for you. With winter quickly approaching (they predicted snow in the mountains at some point this week) it's time to pack in concerts while the weather is nicer. Ya you can still get your rage on in the winter, but if you've ever used coat check or walked a couple blocks from your car to the venue with out a coat while it's snowing, you know how bad that sucks. So without further ado, here's the featured artists this week.
First off is Colorado local, Paper Diamond. Kicking of the 'Night Vision' tour in Colorado, Paper Diamond is bringing with him Crizzly, Protohype, and some local talent along with his brand new LED video set up. If you follow him on Twitter, you know he's been hard at work in the studio both in LA and Boulder working on his new EP along with the help of some friends. With the kick off show being in Denver and a bunch of new goodies, you can expect to here some new tunes. Paper Diamond is playing at the Ogden Theater this Friday and tickets are only $19.75.
The Easy Star All-Stars are also on a tour right now and making their way through Colorado. Best known for their reggae tribute albums to Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon', Radioheads self titled album, and the Beatles 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band', Easy Star All-Stars have solidified a spot as a top reggae band. This tour is all about promoting their new tribute album to the great Michael Jackson. 'Thriller'. I'm not sure how this album is going to fit the reggae style, but from what I've read and what I've heard from their last albums, I'm sure this is going to be killer. They hit Colorado for 4 nights all over starting Sept. 12th at the Aggie in Foco, Sept. 13th at the Fox in Boulder, Sept. 14th at Cervantes' in Denver, and finally Sept. 15th at the Belly Up in Aspen. Plenty of opportunities to catch them live!
The Aggie Theater - Sept. 12, 2012

The Fox Theatre - Sept. 13, 2012

Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom - Sept. 14, 2012

The Belly Up - Sept. 15, 2012

Like I said, winter is quickly approaching and there's one big view that this is going to really mess with, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. With one hell of a summer line up their season is winding down (with some kick ass shows). This week Red Rocks has Railroad Earth and Umphrey's McGee! I've heard nothing but great things about both of these bands and the fact they're playing together makes it that much better! They're also playing separate nights at the Boulder Theater, although Umphrey's is sold out. Both known for being amazing live performances, these American rock bands stretch the genres to make it something unique. Another cool thing about this show is Umphrey's is going to be recording is all live and releasing this show along with the Boulder Theater show on DVD! These shows are also this weekend, Sept. 13th and 14th, rock on America!
