Weekly Scene 8/20/12

We're back with this weeks 'Weekly Scene' and this week, like every other week, has a ton of shows going on! Maybe not the biggest of shows, but there's a little something for any music lover out there. Summer is winding down for those of us in school so be sure to take advantage of the free time and get to as many concerts as you can before school starts! There's a couple shows I'm excited to talk about this week so lets get to it!

KS 107.5 FM is Denver's biggest Rap/ Hip-Hop radio station. Known for Summer Jam and various concerts through out the year KS 107.5 plays all the big hits and gets your car bumpin'! They also play a 'Back In The Day Cafe' segment weekdays at noon that features the old school jams we all love. Their concert coming up is based on all those songs you use to bump as a kid through your hand held cd player. The KS Classic is featuring Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, E-40, Bone Thugs N Harmony, WC, and Kurupt. This may be the last time you'll ever get to see Snoop Dogg as, well, "Snoop Dogg". He recently changed his name to "Snoop Lion" to follow his new path into reggae music so savor this experience! You can expect to hear all the classics at this show. Although the show is sold out, we have a couple ways you can still grab tickets! Number 1, you can listen to KS 107.5 FM all week until the show. They've been giving a way a bunch of tickets and still have plenty for those who didn't get tickets in time (or just prefer the challenging way of getting them). Number 2, our friend stubhub.com always has tickets. With just 75 tickets left, at a hefty price of $79.99, here's your chance to get inside if you're the desperate fan that HAS TO GO. Keep the old school hip-hop alive!

This year marks the 25th year 'Reggae on the Rocks' has gone down. After 25 years this show has gotten a huge following and they've been bringing some awesome acts! This year the line up is Judge Roughneck, Yellow Dubmarine, The Meditations, Rebelution, Steel Pulse, and Burning Spear. Ya, the line up is awesome! R.O.R. has brought artists that have not only keep the genre going, but those who started the reggae revolution as well. Even artists that are unfortunately not around any more such as Lucky Dube and Joseph Hill of Culture. This years headlining act is Burning Spear, the roots reggae legend. Last time they played this show was back in 2007 and with only a handful of shows in 2012 this is a special act to get to see! The show is this Saturday and tickets are still on sale!
