The University of Colorado has some amazing student-run groups. One of those groups is Global Brigades, made up of Global Medical Brigade and Global Dental Brigade. Global Brigades is the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. This year the group is traveling to Panama to help bring medical supplies as well as educate the people there on issues facing public health. To help fund the trip they've team up with two other student-led groups at CU, the Cultural Events Board and Program Council. Together they're bringing Elephant Revival for a benefits concert to be held in the Glenn Miller Ballroom on the CU Campus.
Elephant Revival is a folk band from Nederland, CO who has really distinguished an amazing sound. The 5 piece band has turned heads in the folk scene since their first album released 2008. They were just in Colorado for their NYE run which was really successful for them and on the release of their newest album last year they've hit the road all over the country. They're taking a break from the tour between their stops in New York and Florida to come to CU for this great concert. Along with Elephant Revival will be Cold River City, another local band who actually placed 3rd at CU's Battle of the Bands. They've played the Fox Theatre and Cervantes' and have started to get a real following. The last band on the bill is another local band, Cascade Kinzie. They were in the same Battle of the Bands and took first place. This is their first show since the win, but they're sure to get your feat moving!
Tickets are available to students for a discounted price of $8 in advanced and $10 at the door. The concert is also open to the the general public for $25. Proceeds go to help fund the Global Brigades trip to Panama. Good music and a great cause, how can you beat that??
